Baby Monitor 3.4 issue

Some users reported connection issues with the new version when using wifi.
We are trying to fix it and we will publish an update during the following days.

Baby Monitor update version 3.4

Several internal improvements:

- Fully tested on Moto G.
- Adapted to Android 4.4.4
- Optimised bandwidth for the Walkie Talkie communications, allowing to increase the coverage under Bluetooth or Wifi connections.
- Some parts are redesigned to prepare for the next major upgrades. It will NOT connect to devices that use older versions. UPDATE ALL YOUR DEVICES.
- Receive a message when devices are using different app versions.

Hide the controls that you don't need on Walkie Talkie mode:

Some users asked for a solution to lock some settings or simply hide some controls that don't want to use. This is useful in case that a person that is not used with smartphones/tablets needs to watch your baby.

Go to settings / interface and uncheck the controls that you don't need.

Now you can turn your Baby Monitor All-in-One in a new app that just have an on/off switch!

Minor bug fixes:

- Solves issues related to wifi and bluetooth connectivity.
- Solves issues related to Nanny Mode and loudspeaker in some specific devices.

Connect up to 3 parents to the same baby unit

If you are using a wifi connection, now your baby will be safer than before using this new feature.
Just switch on your baby unit and be sure that all the devices have the same automatic search key.

To avoid undesired connections, when a second or third device is connected you will receive a notification on the rest of parent units.

Control the sensitivity, volume, music, video, etc. remotely from the device you want!

You can disable this feature going to Settings and Connection.


Why only with wifi connections?

Bluetooth has a known bandwidth limit. 2 simultaneous connections are not possible because it produce a very bad quality of sound.


Why only 3 devices?

While using old low powered Android devices during the test period, seems that 3 simultaneous connections are the maximum that this kind of units can afford with warranties.


Bug fixes and improvements

Thanks to your kind comments and emails, this new version solves connection, video and interface bug fixes.

Also it improves the interface for some small tablets like Nexus 7.

Tethering (use your device as a WiFi AP)

You have no WiFi and you need to connect both devices ? Bluetooth range is not enough ?
No problem !

If one of your devices supports acting as a WiFi hotspot, since this version you'll be able to connect both devices using it !

BE CAREFUL: Tethering can increase the data traffic to internet and can represent a possible extra cost in your bill.

Switch between night and day mode automatically

Disabled by default.

The BabyMonitor can change to a darker design under low light conditions or to the regular design when the light comes back.

Select maximum time for video/sound retransmission

You can select the extended sound transmission time after the sound drops below the set level.
Continuous monitoring mode option available.

The video mode will end automatically (energy saving) after 2 minutes. Now you can change this limit.

Front camera as video source (Android 2.3 and above)

Now you can use any camera from your device to watch your baby.

Under video mode, if there is secondary camera available you'll see a new button.

Video image rotation

Not all devices are equal. Some of you reported that you see the video image rotated.

Now under video mode you'll see a new button that allows you to rotate the image independently of the device you are using.

Bigger video viewer

Baby's side ambient temperature (if the device has ambient temperature sensor)

Only available for the latest devices (hope that during next months there will be more and more) that include ambient temperature sensor.

The temperature may vary if the device is charging.

With this feature you will see the Baby's room ambient temperature at the parent's side!

Improved sound quality on walkie-talkie mode

Listen a few seconds of the sound coming from the Baby even if he/she stops doing it.

Long click walkie-talkie sensitivity selector to force continuous baby listening

Press during some seconds the walkie-talkie sensitivity selector in one of both sides to enable listening your baby continuously. When you release your finger, the babymonitor will return to the default mode.

Persistent alert if connection is lost

In that case the babymonitor will advertise the parents with an alarm. You can silent the alarm during the reconnection process.

This feature is optional and you can disable it from the settings menu.

New setting for video quality

This will improve your video quality adapting it to your network.

Select lower quality if you are experiencing troubles using poor signal/bandwith wifi networks.

By default the babymonitor will use the highest quality.

If you use a wifi network then you'll be able to view your baby at parent's device.

Improved automatic search

First of all the parent's device will do a quick search. If this doesn't work then it will do a second search using a different system which is slower but more reliable.


New voice recorder

Notification when receiving phone calls on Baby's device

Receive a notification at parent's device if someone is calling to the device that is watching the baby.
The baby will continue sleeping and you will be alerted immediately !!


Automatic reconnection if communication is lost

If you lose your bluetooth or wifi signal the parent's device will try to reconnect automatically.


Light compatible with the flash of more devices

Baby Monitor update version 2.5

New functionality to search the Baby's device automatically on wifi networks.

This new feature allows you to locate the Baby's device in a wifi network and connect to it automatically.
If the search operation fails, the Baby Monitor will ask you for the ip address or pin as usual.

Now imagine that you are in a public network like a camping or a hotel and that possibly some other Baby Monitors All-in-One could be there. How the Parent's side will know which is the Baby device I want to connect?

Very simple: take a look at the settings and you will find an option where to introduce a key. This key will identify your devices and mus't be the same on both.

Please remember to change it when using public wifi networks to prevent that one else except you can connect to Baby's device.


Fixed user interface issues with Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Tab 7 (P1000).

Solves reported interface issues with those models.


Remember last pin/ip used.

After a successful wifi connection the pin or ip address used will be remembered for the next connection.

How to avoid wifi disconnections using Walkie-Talkie

On your Android phone:

For Android 2.3 and earlier

1) Navigate to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi settings> and select the menu button again.
2) You’ll be prompted to either scan or select advanced. Select “Advanced”
3) Select “Wifi sleep policy” , and you will have a couple of options to select from. Choose “Never”.

For Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and later:

1) Navigate to Menu > Settings > WiFi and select the menu button again.
2) Select Options, Advanced
3) Set “Keep WiFi on during sleep” to “Always”

Mic too sensitive?

Some people reported that they can listen every little noise coming from the baby even with the sensitivity at the lower position.

To avoid this case and due to the existence of many different Android devices with many different mics, there is an option at the preferences screen called "Baby's mic sensitivity".

There you can choose the Baby sensitivity scale. Try Normal or Low values.

If this is not enough for you please contact me and I'll add a Very Low option.

Baby Monitor All-in-One Licensing

The most extended model for this kind of apps is "per user".

What does it mean? Very simple: if you have 2 Android devices with the same Google account that you used to buy the app you don't need to buy a second license. If the 2 devices use different Google accounts then yes, you need 2 different licenses.

Some users said that simply adding as a second Google account the one used to by the app on a second device, the app can work with a single license. A small group couldn't... and finally a small part of them needed to reset the terminal after this test (depending on device model).

This license model is also used by Apple at their AppStore.

How can I improve Bluetooth range of my Baby Monitor?

The Bluetooth technology was designed to make wireless connections over short distances between portable devices. The class implemented in our devices by manufacturers has a maximum range of 10-15 meters with no obstacles in between.

From an article published at ehow.com we can consider the following points to improve our Bluetooth connection:

• Minimize as many large obstacles as possible between the Bluetooth-connected devices. Range improves if, for example, there are fewer walls between the devices. Range also is affected by large furniture between devices, so move the electronics or rearrange furniture to improve performance.
  
• Turn off or move away from competing wireless signals, such as Wi-Fi connections. Wi-Fi works like Bluetooth, but is much stronger. The signals can disrupt Bluetooth connections, shortening the Bluetooth's range.
